FEATURES

Consistent Communications, Clear Signals

If there is anything more critical to organizational success than clear, consistent communications, I don’t know what that might be. Every company has a mission and vision statement these days, as well as a strategic plan that everyone is supposed to be working toward. However, mixed signals can derail an organization’s communications and its achievement of success.

Is VOIP Right For Your Business

The global competitiveness of our industry is completely changing the way we do business. With more and more of our customers—and even some of our divisions—being international, the need to stay in touch, yet cut costs, is more prevalent than ever.

Lights, Camera, Action

The Web cam has brought interesting opportunities for the average person to broadcast live-action footage throughout the world via the Internet.

Software

NC Coding For Encoders

With the right CAM system, this manufacturer of industrial encoders was able to incorporate offline part programming and knowledge-based machining for increased productivity.

Software

Protecting Capital Equipment

"The Atam," as this shop refers to the device, is designed to perform machine diagnostics and real-time, in-process tool action monitoring. The process analyzer from Atam Systems (New Albany, Ohio) is a relatively simple tool.

Taking Its Turn

This family-owned job shop is more interested in what its capital investments can do than how much they cost. Keeping its demanding automotive customers happy means paying attention to the details and applying the right technology to the job.

The Future Of Broaching

When broaching internal keyways, everyone has their favorite method—vertical slotting, wobble or rotary broaching or push or pull broaching. However, the engineers at this Baldor plant are going with a different method.

THINC Together

The belief that “two heads are better than one” has been taken to a new level. As the first facility of its kind, Partners in THINC is where a customer can come to see real parts being manufactured for real customers. In addition, this facility is where 26 of the industry’s leaders have committed products, engineers and time to reach out to the manufacturing industry to solve problems and create solutions as a team—a multi-discipline partnership.

Tooling

Use Only The Carbide Needed

The cost of APT, a key ingredient in tungsten carbide cutting tools, has skyrocketed. In response to this situation and quick-change demands from its customers, Ingersoll Cutting Tools offers a modular line of solid carbide cutting tips that attach to reusable tool shanks.

CAD/CAM

Simulation Fascination

One package that was created for the newer generation of Swiss-type machines and lathes is SylvieXpert, developed in Switzerland and distributed in the United States by JuraTech Engineering (Oxnard, California).
