Learn Better Machining at IMTS

Visitors to the Siemens Industry booth at IMTS will have a hands-on opportunity to design parts that will be machined on the show floor.

Siemens teaches better machining.

This year at IMTS, Siemens Industry Inc. is helping its booth visitors “learn to be a better machinist in 30 minutes or less.” Using CNC training modules and CNC simulators, participants will design parts for a quadcopter drone that is being built in the booth (E-4502). Part programs will be downloaded to a machine in the booth that will produce the parts.

The parts, then, will be cleaned and assembled by a robot using the Siemens RunMyRobot software, which allows a part articulating robotic device to be controlled on the second channel of the machine tool CNC, eliminating the need for separate PLC and programming knowledge specific to that device. The “students” will receive a memory stick with the program they created.
