Finally, there’s a cartoon character metalworkers can embrace. He is the brainchild from a collaboration among the owner and two employees of California-based Shop Floor Automations (SFA).

The character appears in a two-square story in which he shows what life is like using the company’s solutions, while the second square shows the horrors he faces elsewhere in the shop.

Amanda Rosenblatt is the comic strip’s artist and is the marketing manager at SFA. However, the entire company contributes ideas and feedback for the comic, which makes it fun for the employees to get involved and share their shopfloor experiences. Amanda says the genesis for the comic strip was to get young people involved in manufacturing and try to reach them through social media with Shop Floor Man as a spokesperson.

Laughter and humor are part of the fabric of life and enjoyed by almost everyone. Shop Floor Man can demonstrate that manufacturing can be a fun industry in which to work. Follow the comic strip @ShopFloorHumor on Twitter, and I bet you will “LOL.”
