To lend its support to Manufacturing Day 2015, Smartforce leaders from AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology will be visiting several events taking place in Dayton, Ohio, and Richmond, Indiana, on October 1 and 2. Manufacturing Day is a nationwide event focused on promoting education and careers in advanced manufacturing, addressing common misperceptions about the industry and giving manufacturers a chance to reach out to the larger community.

On October 1, the Smartforce Local Motors Rally Fighter and AMT VP - Smartforce Development Greg Jones will appear at an open house at Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond, Indiana. This visit is in support of efforts by Ivy Tech and AMT member Ahaus Tool and Engineering in reaching out to the community to share the importance of education in advanced manufacturing technologies.

As part of the open house event, which takes place from 5:30 – 7:00 pm and is open to the community, visitors will tour classrooms and labs at Ivy Tech and will have a chance to engage in presentations about advanced manufacturing. Other topics on the agenda include the importance of community colleges in STEM education, and a video of Strati, the world’s first 3D printed vehicle. These events will take place at Ivy Tech’s Richmond campus, 2357 Chester Blvd., Richmond, Indiana.

On October 2 (Manufacturing Day 2015), Mr. Jones and the Rally Fighter will head over to Dayton, Ohio, to visit an open house at Noble Tool Corp. (1535 Stanley Ave., Dayton, Ohio) from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., then to an invitation-only event at Oerlikon FSUS Dayton (240 Detrick St., Dayton, Ohio) from 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Students will be in attendance for facility tours during these events, which are being supported by the Dayton Regional Manufacturers Association.
