The 2015 World Machine Tool Survey now offers its 50th edition of the independent annual survey that collects statistics from machine-tool-producing countries and compares them in U.S. dollars. It is conducted by Steve Kline, Gardner Business Media's director of market intelligence.

According to Steve, the survey shows that high productivity is at the heart of a healthy manufacturing economy. Low interest rates make it cheaper to get increased productivity through investment in capital equipment, such as machine tools. Last year, the largest economies invested at a higher rate, increasing their competitve advantage.
