Near the close of IMTS 2014, Modern Machine Shop editors Mark Albert, Pete Zelinski, and Derek Korn sat down for a live wrap-up interview to discuss their overall impressions of the show. They make some excellent points as Mark kicks off the discussion with his excitement about the number of students who attended the show, heightening their enthusiasm about careers in manufacturing.

Pete goes on to mention the overall positive attitude throughout the show floor, indicating the continued forward trends in manufacturing and a very bright outlook. On a related note, Derek says that exhibitors were able to leverage their technology to a great extent to draw visitors into their booths, without the need for as many gimmicks or promotions.

The group does a great job explaining how what they’ve observed at IMTS provides a pretty good idea of what we can be looking for in the future for the industry, from the growth of data driven manufacturing, to the strategies behind a successful generational shift among industry professionals, to expanded use of automation. Check out the video for more information about what you may or may not have picked up on at the show.
