Maximum Show Coverage

IMTS.com is a good first step to efficient IMTS show planning.

Every day we strive for higher productivity by finding more efficient means of accomplishing our goals. Usually in our industry this logic is applied to machining operations, setups and shopfloor processes. But as IMTS approaches, it makes sense to consider ways to ensure your time on the show floor is prudent as well, covering as much ground as possible and seeing what’s most relevant to your shop in a minimum amount of time. As with any process, the key to efficient results is quality
planning.

Get a jumpstart on your show results by visiting
IMTS.com. This Web site, devoted to the show in Chicago, September 8 through 13, offers all the preliminary information an attendee needs to hit the ground running at the show. From show registration to travel arrangements to exhibitor details, a well-planned trip is at your fingertips.

Knowing where to go on the show floor is, perhaps, the best way to get the most from your visit. What better way to be prepared than to “Map Your Show” before you arrive?

From the home page of IMTS.com, follow the link for “Floor Plans” to see what companies will be exhibiting at the show and the types of products they will have on display. Search via an alphabetical list of companies, product categories, pavilions or halls.

Once a company is selected, further information is provided in an online showroom, including contact information, booth number, product categories, trade names and links to the company Web site and e-mail addresses. Many showrooms also include video footage that gives even more details about the company and its products. Users can choose to print the showroom or tell a friend about it, with an option to e-mail as many as three people with comments about the information available.

With a good idea of the companies you’d like to visit, MyMap, accessible throughout the IMTS site, allows users to create a custom list of exhibitors they would like to see at the show. Every MyMap user can access his or her own personalized list, sort it and generate a custom floor plan of those exhibitors, making it easier to find them at the show. In addition, users can view editorial coverage of individual companies and can share their agenda with others via e-mail.

To start building your custom floor plan, set up a personal account using the MyMap link. If you used the interactive mapping system at IMTS 2006, your account should still be
accessible.

Most of the information on IMTS.com, including your stored, personalized MyMap agenda, will also be available at MyMap kiosks at the show. About 60 kiosks will be located throughout the show floor, where visitors can find exhibitors, view them in key product categories, get walking directions to the nearest restroom, restaurants, business services and more. MyMap information also is optimized for access via Web-enabled cell phones.

IMTS.com and its interactive planning utilities can help you make the most of your time at the show. Visit more booths, spend more time with exhibitors who meet your needs and find more products than ever before. Then, after the show, refer back to your MyMap account for follow-up with the companies you need to reach. With a good plan, you can’t go wrong.
