PM News: Centralized Order Entry

Houghton International (Valley Forge, Pennsylvania) has announced that its six telephone order entry systems throughout the country have been consolidated and centralized at the Valley Forge corporate headquarters. The centralization allows all U.S. customers to order all product lines, as well as fluid sample requests, from the same location, while affording immediate access to Houghton's corporate technical service department.

The centralization allows all U.S. customers to order all product lines, as well as fluid sample requests, from the same location, while affording immediate access to Houghton's corporate technical service department. New Manufacturer. The Hybco line of tool and cutter grinding equipment is now being marketed and manufactured by Leland-Gifford, Inc. (Akron, Ohio). The 65-year-old line was acquired from Hybco International Inc. on March 1, 2002. The Hybco line is primarily two-way form relieving equipment, tool and cutter grinders, tap grinders, and chamfer and flute heads.

Environmentally Friendly Cleaning. The Tools4Mfg.com e-business site now offers manufacturers environmentally friendly metal parts washing solutions and all purpose degreasers from North American BioIndustries Corporation, a manufacturer of biodegradeable cleaning agents. The primary emphasis of the OnCourse Technology Tools4Mfg B2M portal for the past 3 years has been as a tool for users of software marketed by its subsidiaries, Micro Estimating Systems and TekSoft Inc. North American BioIndustries (New Berlin, Wisconsin) has joined forces with OnCourse as the first company to participate at the online store with its neutral pH cleaners.

Awarded. Henning Industrial Software, Inc. (Hudson, Ohio) received a 2000-2001 PMPA Technical Member Participation Honorable Mention Award. The company was the only software company to win this year's award, presented at the 2002 National Technical Conference in April. According to the company, it benefits from PMPA membership by being exposed to a variety of manufacturers of every size on a non-selling level.

Add-in Agreement. STEP Tools, Inc. (Troy, New York) and DP Technology (Camarillo, California) have announced that STEP tools will build a STEP-NC add-in for the Esprit CAM system. The add-in will enable Esprit users to read STEP-NC files into the Esprit CAM system, generate the tool path and output it to the machine tool.

The implementation of the add-in is a demonstration of DP Technology's complete backing for STEP-NC and STEP Tools Model Driven Intelligent Control of Manufacturing project, an advanced technology project issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology to develop and deploy a digital input standard for CNC machines.

Learn On The Go. Tooling University has a new capability for its industrial training programs. The Tooling University Learning Management System now has the ability to export classes to a Pocket PC via executable files. The Pocket PC provides trainees the ability to take Tooling U's e-learning courses when access to a personal computer is limited. The same content is available, complete with full text, audio and video. Certified. Boston Centerless (Woborn, Massachusetts) recently received its ISO 9001:2000 certificate. The company sought the certification in order to improve its internal process of administering the Quality Management System.
