Your Metalworking TV Guide

The much vaunted IMTS 2012 show is complete. By any and all accounts it was a resounding success. I’ve attended this exhibition, uninterrupted, since 1980 and consider the 2012 edition to be one for the books.

The great attendance, many happy exhibitors and neat technology to keep the manufacturing momentum moving forward all conspired to create an atmosphere of optimism that manufacturing is not only back in this country, but that it is cool. Regarding the cool factor, many efforts were made by the show sponsors, exhibitors and organizations to convey a realistic image of manufacturing to younger visitors in an effort to interest them in careers within industry, which is a great thing.

One tool that was brought to bear not only on youngsters, but on visitors in general was IMTS TV. Using all the techniques at the disposal of “roving reporters,” video clips were broadcast throughout the show on large, sometimes huge, flat screen TVs located throughout the McCormick Place complex.

Those clips are now archived and available online for those attendees who may have missed them on site and for those in manufacturing not able to attend. I have collected some links below of interviews from myself and several colleagues that summarize different products and processes on display at IMTS 2012.
