Description: The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) in partnership with the Canadian Machine Tool Distributors Association (CMTDA), Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA), Canadian Wind Energy Association (CANWEA), Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) are set to launch the 2010 edition of the Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show (MMTS). Held every 2 years and celebrating its 37th year as Quebec’s industry event, manufacturers are once again depending on MMTS as their unique forum to buy, learn, network and innovate. The latest news on the upswing in the Quebec aerospace sector, including the recent Bombardier announcement of a $3.06 billion order for C-Series aircraft, is a welcome signal the industry is rebounding and moving back on track. As manufacturing sales are trending upwards and inventories decline, Quebec manufacturers are increasing their demand for new equipment, new technology and new suppliers. MMTS attendees will not be disappointed in the quantity and scale of large working machinery on display at this year’s event. It has been a tough year for many builders with the economic downturn; however, with many experts now seeing the signs of a recovery underway in many sectors, the timing of MMTS could not be better, according to a recent industry survey conducted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. “In contrast to a tough 2009, we are pleased as an industry that almost all major machine tool builders will be represented on the floor with working machinery and ready to do business at MMTS.” said Nick Samain, Event Manager. “In fact, many of the major builders have upgraded their exhibit space knowing that manufacturers attending the event will be looking to make buying decisions on the show floor to secure the technology they need to compete and take advantage of the recovery.” In addition to the buzz on the show floor, manufacturers will also benefit from industry keynotes, town halls, networking receptions and a full automation conference.
