Mazak’s Northeast Technology Center hosts a free MTConnect lunch and learn for manufacturers on Thursday, November 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its location in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. During the event, attendees will discover how this open-source, royalty-free manufacturing protocol can improve the utilization of their equipment and boost productivity.
Neil Desrosiers, Mazak applications engineer/developer and member of the MTConnect Technical Advisory Group, will present on how MTConnect exists to connect devices and systems from different suppliers to capture and share valuble information in a common format. He will also highlight best practices for implementing the protocol into a manufacturing facility.
Additionally, attendees will get to experience MTConnect at work in Mazak’s North American Manufacturing Plant via a live-streaming demonstration. In 2013, the company converted its manufacturing facility over to the protocol to monitor the utilization of its individual machines and manufacturing cells as well as use it for error handling and cycle time validation. Mazak also has plans to use MTConnect for several custom applications unique to its manufacturing operations. These applications include monitoring machine tool spindle sensors for valuable maintenance data, as well as tracking part cycle times to benefit the company’s scheduling department. The company also builds MTConnect-compliant machines and offers moderately priced adapters for existing equipment in the field.
