With the theme “Assessment and Compensation of the Temperature Sensitivity of Machine Tools,” Dr. Josef Mayr from the ETH Zürich, Institute for Machine Tool and Manufacturing (Switzerland), won the Fritz Studer Award 2011. He was awarded at the exhibition AMB in Stuttgart, Germany, on September 18 last year.
The research prize was aimed at scholars and graduates (individuals or research groups) from universities, technical institutes and technical colleges in Europe, who have studied scientific topics or produced results from their student projects or bachelor/master diploma studies. The projects were to be aimed at increasing innovation in the machine industry, whilst demonstrating feasibility of implementation.
