Fidia S.p.A. located in Turin, Italy, has moved its North American operations from Troy, Michigan, to a new 14,000-square-foot headquarters facility in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Fidia designs and builds numerical controls and high-speed milling machine systems for the production of complex-shaped parts for the automotive, aerospace and energy markets. Fidia is a manufacturer of numerical controls and one of the few that can provide its own on-board electronics, controls and process software for the company's range of milling machines.

Dr. Giuseppe Morfino, Fidia CEO, says, “Because our market share and customer base has steadily increased over the past several years, we found the need to expand our existing North American operations. Combine that with our partnering program with Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Paragon Die & Engineering to build machines right here in Grand Rapids, it became evident that we required additional manpower and facilities to better serve our existing and future customers. The expanded facility includes an 8,000 square foot warehouse and demonstration area for the stocking of more spare parts, and presentation and demonstration of a number of Fidia high-speed milling machines and controls. There is also a controls service and retrofit area.”

Dr. Morfino says, “The new facility has a 6,000 square foot office area that has allowed us to expand our engineering and service support, as well as add two new sales engineers. That will expand our North American operation to over 20 employees.”

He concludes, “We are very pleased with our machine tool and controls business here in North America. We have experienced good incremental growth since we established our first operation in Troy, Michigan, in 1994. Jorge Correa, Fidia’s VP of sales for North America has done an excellent job in building our brand and providing the high level of service our customers require. Later this year, we will be introducing a brand new 4.5 meter large gantry, high-speed milling machine that will be built by our partner at Paragon Die & Engineering.”
