Joe Poulin, Canadian sales manager for Hurco North America, won the Top 20 Under 40 Award in Canada, which was presented to him at the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show.

According to Robert Colman, editor of "MP&P" magazine, the primary sponsor of the awards, "…We chose 20 individuals that we felt represented the varied skills required to make the metalworking industry in Canada not only survive, but thrive in a market that continues to challenge the best around the world. This list of individuals includes researchers, welders, marketing experts, fabricators, machinists, sales people and educators, among other disciplines. Each has an important role to play in this vibrant industry, and they are helping to keep manufacturing strong in our communities.”

Poulin graduated as a machining technician at the age of 18 and worked as a machinist in various shops, performing cylindrical grinding, working manual lathes and milling machines, CNC machining centers, and large CNC boring mills. At 24, he accepted a position as an automotive program manager in a stamping die shop. In 2006, he joined Hurco to help the company establish roots in Canada. Poulin received his CMTSE Certification in 2010. He has a passion for manufacturing education and spearheaded a web series called Cycle Start Show to attract young people to the machining profession.
