Going Well. Close to 1,000 companies have registered to purchase metals from the site this year. The company hopes this will increase sales. About 60 percent of companies using have never ordered from Carpenter Technology, the company says. One factor driving those companies to the site, the company believes, is's position as a manufacturerowned site, rather than a metals auction or cooperative exchange.

The company sees as a communications and marketing tool for improving customer awareness of the company 24 hours a day. Future and recent site updates to spur traffic, sales upgrades and enhancements continue to be among Carpenter's priorities.

Growing Like A Weed. S&M Machine (Oconto Falls, Wisconsin) has added new space to its Wisconsin manufacturing plant. The additional 25,000 square feet provides room for an expanded product development area, new machine display space, extra assembly room and a larger electrical/facility engineering shop. S&M's total building space, including the Parts Distribution Center also in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, now totals 195,000 sq. ft.

Happy To Serve. Tornos Technologies U. S. Corporation (Brookfield, Connecticut) announced the appointment of Hopkins Machinery (Bohemia, New York) as a representative in the Long Island and metropolitan New York territory. Tornos Technologies is a manufacturer of Swisstype and multi-spindle automatic lathes.

Distribution Of Grinding. Blanchard & Blanchard Machinery, Inc. (Hamburg, Michigan) has recently been appointed the exclusive Michigan distributor of Voumard Inc. (Elmsford, New York), which makes Swiss precision internal grinding machines.
