Dr. Scott Smith at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has been awarded the 2006 Charles F. Carter, Jr. Advancing Manufacturing award. Dr. Smith, who is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was selected to receive this award for his work to better manufacturing, especially in the areas of machine tool structural dynamics and the chip forming process, as well as his accomplishments as an educator.
