TMA Elects Jim Carr Chairman

Mr. Carr is president and owner of Elk Grove Village, Illinois-based CARR Machine & Tool Inc.

The Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA) elected Jim Carr as its 79th chairman of the board. Mr. Carr is president and owner of Elk Grove Village, Illinois-based Carr Machine & Tool Inc.

“It’s a great honor for me to be selected by my peers for this important assignment,” Mr. Carr says. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members and TMA staff to continue our commitment to be the foremost manufacturing association in Illinois.”

Mr. Carr was sworn in at TMA’s 90th annual meeting on March 3 at TMA headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, and formally introduced to members and guests assembled for TMA’s annual dinner Saturday at Sofitel Chicago Water Tower Hotel. He replaces outgoing Chairman Fernando Ortiz, Jr.

TMA also elected three new board members: Jason Zenger, president of Zenger’s Industrial Supply and partner in Camfast; Bill Downey, president and CEO of Hi‐Grade Welding and Manufacturing; and Rich Hoster, president and COO of Smith & Richardson. These men will serve three‐year terms. Retiring from the board are Stacey Bales, Brian Panek and Paul Prikos.

“I am truly excited to work with a newly assembled dynamic and diverse board of directors this year. My experience with this association, and in life, has taught me that diversity of thought creates the bestrounded ideas, and through respect and acceptance we can translate those opinions into powerful decisions that will ultimately enrich our association, our businesses and our personal lives,” Mr. Carr says.
