No. 964 is an electrically heated 1,000(degrees) F inert atmosphere oven from Grieve, used for bluing steel at the customer's facility. Workspace dimensions measure 24" W × 24" D × 36" H. 18 kW are installed in Incolony-sheathed tubular elements to heat the unit, while a 750 cfm, 3/4-hp recirculating blower motor provides horizontal front-to-rear airflow to the workload.

This oven features 8" thick insulated walls comprising 2" of 1,900(degree) F block and 6" of 10-lb/cf-density Rockwool, an aluminized steel exterior and Type 304 2B stainless steel interior with continuously back-welded seams. Special construction features for inert atmosphere use with the customer's steam boiler include a pressure gauge, an internal high-temperature gasket, all-welded expansion connection in doorway throat, an air jacket on the inner oven for cooling, a 1/2" thick cellular silicone rubber atmosphere door seal, a blower shaft seal, positive door latching hardware, and more. An integral oven leg stand is also provided.

Controls on the oven include a digital programming temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors, recirculating blower airflow safety switch, 10" diameter, two-pen circular chart temperature recorder, SCR power controller and fused disconnect switch.
