Autor Engineering offers its CNC combined slide, a three-axis (X, Z, and C) self-contained module, which can mount on the cross slide of most six- and eight-spindle multi-spindle automatics. The unit is not machine dependent and quickly provides advanced capabilities to a cam-driven automatic.
Once installed, the unit provides full contouring single-point turning of outside and inside diameters, as well as thread chasing to make any thread in any material. Several models have a range of up to X = 40 mm (0.1.575”) and Z = 80 mm (3.150”). Two different cutting tools may be used for roughing/finishing, left/right or OD/ID operations.
Full G-code programming is used by the free-standing plug-in CNC control, which also provides offsets to correct for indexing errors. Autor Engineering is represented in North America by SPC Innovations Inc.
