Adjustable Hydrodynamic Guide Bushings

Spieth adjustable hydrodynamic guide bushings, made of high-quality bearing bronze, are used for guiding axially or roto-axially moving machine components on round column axles, quills, boring bars and similar round ways. When the bushing is axially compressed, the clearance on the outer diameter will be reduced and the bushing will locate itself in place. Additional axial tightening will reduce the inner diameter clearance until a proper fit is established.

When the bushing is axially compressed, the clearance on the outer diameter will be reduced and the bushing will locate itself in place. Additional axial tightening will reduce the inner diameter clearance until a proper fit is established. The axial compression deflects the edges of the bearing and lands slightly upward, forming a wedge ring. This feature allows for hydrodynamic lubrication effect when the bushing is moved axially and lubricant is present.
