Bandsaw With Automatic Feed--Knuth Machine Tools

Knuth Machine Tools' ABS 550 is a fully automated bandsaw with a twin column guide system. The automatic feed system uses a powered pinch roller system with a 3/4-hp motor for automated rapid material advancement. Also, the machine has a limit switch located on the adjustable stock stop to cut lengths accurately, a programmable part counter to provide an exact number of parts that are cut for better productivity and less wasted material, and an automatic cutting height adjustment to limit the space between the blade and the material, so no time is wasted "cutting air.

The saw frame feed has an infinitely variable cutting speed (65 to 330 ft/min) and a main motor drive rating of 5 hp to provide for sufficient power reserves. There is a dual column guide to provide parallel cuts and a torque-resistant weldment. In addition, the machine has a capacity of 18.5"× 17.75".

The saw uses helical gears and a hydraulic cylinder. These gears ensure a longer lifespan and low overall maintenance, while the large dimensions of the cylinder ensure both consistent and quiet operation. Also, the machine incorporates an automatic shut-down when the blade breaks for added safety and productivity.

Both the saw frame and the machine bed are a one-piece construction design and are made of high-quality cast iron in order to provide minimum vibrations and a torque-free structure for heavy loads.
