The GibbsCAM 2.5D Solids option was designed to provide CNC programming capability to production machining users who are manufacturing 2.5D parts. Feature-based selection tools and face selection capabilities have been enhanced to recognize aspects of 2.5D geometry, according to the company.

An automatic feature recognition capability has been incorporated into the software and integrated with the Hole Wizard. The option also introduces advanced 2.5D milling and turning machining functionality, such as the ability to interactively machine solids directly, the company says.

With the GibbsCAM 2004 release, the software’s intuitive graphical user interface gets a number of Windows-enabled enhancements, such as standard independent Windows dialogs and dialog controls supporting user control of transparency, snap alignment and roll-up, the company says. Application windows can now be cascaded, tiled and minimized, and the main application window frame can be resized.
