Developed by C & G Systems Inc., CGS North America offers CG CAM-Tool. The software is designed to work within SolidWorks 2011 to enable users to machine hard materials, minimize hand work and EDM, improve surface finish, and cut overall costs.
The software decreases costs to the mold-, tool-, or die- making process by shortening the overall cycle time. This is accomplished using a CAM engine that outputs accurate NC code. Unlike other CAM software, it does not use a triangulated mesh surface for creating tool paths. Using triangulated mesh can cause a faceting on the machined mold or die that requires polishing to eliminate, increasing polishing time and making dimensional changes to what was machined, the company says.
