This parts cleaning uses hydrocarbons and modified alcohols in place of chlorinated hydrocarbons. The environment is protected with a closed system working under a vacuum so that the flash point of the solvent does not present a restriction for the cleaning process. Using the following process is said to guarantee a high throughput, low running costs, maximum security, EPA regulations conformance and absolute clean parts. First, the parts to be washed are sprayed under vacuum with hot solvent from the working tank. The washing chamber is flooded from the working tank. The cleaning process can optionally be enhanced by injection flooding or ultrasonics. Next, the parts are rinsed with clean distillate. Then, the final cleaning is achieved by solvent vapor directly from the vacuum distillation. Finally is vacuum drying, in which a short drying cycle is obtained by efficient and maintenance-free vacuum pumps. Distillation residue, sludge, chips and water are removed emission free. According to the company, the system operates at values lower than specified by the EPA.
