Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc. has expanded its tooling offering for precision machining applications. These tools will improve customer productivity and cost per part because of tool life advances and application versatility, the company says. Among the expansion is the MESI chipbreaker for ground positive inserts. With a design meant for a range of depths of cut (0.078”to 0.236”) combined with several grades made for exotic materials and stainless steels, the chipbreaker is especially useful for small tool turning. Target applications include medical instruments, implants, valves, screws and pins.
