Carl Zeiss is highlighting the Micura coordinate measuring machine, a high precision, compact, bridge-type CMM.

The system offers 0.9 µm + L/400 accuracy with low probing force and is designed for measurements of small and intricate parts often required in the optical, electronic, medical, aerospace and telecommunication industries. According to the company, the system provides the accuracy to measure delicate parts, such as optics and disk-drive components, while maintaining efficiency. A measurement volume of 500 × 500 × 500 mm handles a variety of small parts.

The CMM uses ceramic guideway technology to increase stability against temperature changes and dynamic influences. Zeiss wrap-around air bearings in all guideways also provide rigidity and stability at maximum speeds and accelerations.

The system is equipped with a workpiece temperature sensor and temperature compensation for increased measuring performance and productivity. A dual-joystick display panel simplifies motorized control and programming. The machine’s ergonomic apron surrounds the granite plate, providing room outside of the measuring volume for the panel, tools and accessories.

The system features precision scanning technology with the Vast XT gold active scanning sensor. The scanning sensor is designed to provide submicron accuracy with high-speed scanning rates of as much as 200 points per second. The system can complete tasks such as form and length measurements, curve and free-form measurements, and reverse engineering. The optional navigator technology is said to increase the measuring performance and productivity.

The system is available with Calypso metrology software, a CAD-based program with visual metrology. According to the company, there is no structural programming or difficult code and text editing.
