With its program for driven tools with VDI40 and VDI50 toolholders, Kennametal is meeting the market's growing need for complete machining on lathes, also. This program allows both drilling and milling to be performed on lathes with driven tool capability.
The VDI holder drive conforms to DIN 5480 and DIN 5482. The tool interface is available with the company's modular adapters KM40 and KM50 as well as collet chucks in DIN ER32 and DIN ER40. Drive tools with the KM modular interface reduce setup time, improving both productivity and flexibility. The driven tools, which are available in axial and right-angled designs, have high-precision sealed spindle bearings.
These tools, which are equipped with an internal and external coolant supply, benefit from a compact design and are also suitable for use in machines with limited working envelopes.
