Methods Machine Tools Inc. has introduced two Matsuura five-axis vertical machining centers featuring the industry’s multitasking technology, Cublex.

This technology integrates turning and grinding functions into a high performance five-axis milling platform, providing unprecedented speed, power, accuracy, tool capacity and multi-process machining capabilities. In addition, it provides machining versatility such as the ability to change as many as 40 chucks automatically as an ATC lathe or milling machine.

The Cublex 25 PC 40 features an 11.8" (29.97 cm) diameter x 9.8" (24.89 cm) H. max work size, 5.2" (13.21 cm) pallets and a 40 pallet changer. The larger Cublex 42 PC24 has a work envelope of 16.8" (42.67 cm) diameter x 14" (35.56) H and a 24 pallet changer with 12.8" (32.51 cm) round pallets.

Both machines have a standard spindle speed of 15,000 rpm (Cublex-25) or 12,000 rpm (Cublex-42), with both machines having an optional speed of 20,000 rpm.
