The new line of cutoff tooling also offers an insert stop design that automatically increases clamping forces as cutting forces increase, further increasing the amount of insert holding power. The A2 clamping system is designed to mate with inserts with V-prisms on both their top and bottom surfaces, providing positive locking against movement in any direction and making it possible to use higher locking forces.

The A2 clamping system is designed to mate with inserts with V-prisms on both their top and bottom surfaces, providing positive locking against movement in any direction and making it possible to use higher locking forces. The fixed insert stop assures positive seating with every index and automatically redirects cutting forces into additional clamping force, providing secure holding power in the toughest cuts. The company is offering cutoff inserts in grade KC5025, a TiAIN coated fine-grain carbide that offers a combination of wear resistance and toughness. The company also offers KT315 inserts, a PVD-TiCN coated cermet. Inserts used with A2 holders provide positive rake cutting action and a molded-in chipbreaker ramp to direct chips away from the blade, extending blade life. An indexing wrench minimizes downtime by providing fast insertion and removal of the insert without damage to the cutting edge. The new cutoff tools are also available in a wide range of sizes. They are offered with cutting widths varying from 0.063 to 0.315 inch, and the widest insert can take cuts up to 5" deep.
