Iscar’s new Sumocham drill family is an advanced evolution of the Chamdrill and Chamdrilljet drill families. The drill features twisted coolant nozzles with indexable drilling heads, which are available in different head configurations for various material groups. Sumocham Umocham drills can be used either on milling centers or lathe machines.

The drill head features four standard drill head geometries, designed for optimal performance and high reliability when used on various materials. It is manufactured with a sharp cutting edge and polished flutes. The drilling heads are available in the diameter range of 0.315” to 1.020” and have ground flutes for smooth, uninterrupted chip flow, and a ground gash for improved penetration. Productivity can be increased by as much as 100 percent.

The drill shank design is according to DIN 9766 standard, with available drilling depth to diameter ratios of 1.5xD, 3xD, 5xD and 8xD. All drill bodies feature helical coolant holes.

The accurate cylinder added to the clamping portion is designed to improve rigidity and reduces internal stresses. The rotation stopper planes on the tool are precision ground, which improves the control on the drilling head position and support, ensuring better tool performance and tool life, the company says.
