They are particularly suitable for low cutting depths or for cases involving stringent precision and surface quality requirements. The cutting grade and cutting edge geometry combination can work with types of steel material from unalloyed structural steel, to heat treated or highly alloyed stainless steel. The inserts are suited for operations ranging from ultra-fine finishing to roughing. The positive insert shapes go by the names: PF4 – the fine insert; PS5 – the variable insert; PM5 – the universal insert; PF5 – the precise insert (peripherally ground); PR5 – the robust insert (round insert); MOT – the stable insert (round insert with chamfered cutting edge); PF – the speedy insert, and PM – the fast insert.
