The first product of the recently announced alliance between DME Co., Madison Heights, Mich., and P.E.T.S., Auburn Hills, Mich., is an electric valve-gate system aimed at medical and high-volume consumer markets. The patented P.E.T.S. electric valve-gate—well suited to cleanroom operations—is said to be unequaled in both its speed (6 in./sec valve-pin movement) and closing force (over 35,000 psi). The electric valve gate can be paired with the P.E.T.S. valve-gate sequencer, which offers real-time section views of each valve gate and precise digital positioning of each pin independently in 0.001-in. increments. Both are sold through DME.

In development for release this fall is a high-cavitation temperature controller from P.E.T.S. for up to 128 zones. It will have a real-time graphical user interface and features such as staged startups to minimize heater burnout, accelerated quick color changes, and automatic temperature lowering to minimize resin degradation.
