The H40ALV and H40ALV-RN end mills have been added to the company’s Helical line of geometries for non-ferrous machining. The H40ALV line includes a variable-pitch flute configuration and cutting-diameter tolerance of -0.0001" to -0.0004". According to the company, this precision reduces chatter and tool offset adjustments while optimizing tool performance. The line includes a full corner radius option ranging from 0.015" to 0.250" as a standard product. The end mills are made of sub-micron grain carbide in stub, regular and reduced-neck lengths. A zirconium nitride coating provides lubricity to improve chip evacuation and resistance to abrasion for extended tool life.

The series includes a redesigned end geometry in response to the trend toward ramping and plunging in aluminum. The design enables all three teeth to cut at the center for chip clearance and evacuation when plunging and ramping, the company says.

The H40ALV-RN series of end mills is similar in design, but has a reduced neck diameter with a relatively short flute length for longer reach into deep pockets while maintaining tool rigidity. This series is recommended high speed milling of pockets.

Both series are available in shank diameters from 0.25" to 1.0".
