The company manufactures Sure-Grip expanding collet systems that have an under-over capacity of -0.001" to +0.015" from its specified size to accommodate a range of bore sizes from one expanding collet. A double-angle design is incorporated to ensure true parallel gripping with maximum grip force, as well as a built in safety stop to prevent the collet from over-expanding. Collets are available from 1/8" up to 4" diameter as standard. 5C, 16C and 3J collet-style expanding collet systems mount directly into the collet angle of the spindle with instant centering. There are no spindle adapters needed. The one-piece spindle arbor construction and the closing mechanism hold the workpiece extremely rigid for better surface finishes and concentricity. 16C expanding collet(s) can be used in milling applications with a pneumatic collet block mounted on the table. A2-5, A2-6 and A2-8 expanding collet systems mount directly on to the spindle. Hardinge precision manufacturing processes guarantee the Total Indicator Reading (TIR) of the arbor will be within 0.0002" (0.00508 mm). With the expanding collet mounted on the arbor, the TIR of the collet and arbor will not exceed 0.0005" (0.0127 mm), without the need for adjusting screws and indicating. Hex, square and special-shaped expanding collets, along with special-configuration and applications are available.
