Developed for use with CNC mills, lathes, wire EDM, turn-mill centers and Swiss-type lathes, PartMaker version 7.8 has expanded functionalities, including enhancements to the Surface Machining Wizard (SMW) module and 3D simulation.

The SMW implements toolpath generation and machining strategies for milling free shape, 3D surfaces. PartMaker Software/IMCS Inc. says it has been designed to function as an optional module for the software, which employs algorithms to reduce the time required to machine parts. In addition, new surfacing capabilities have been incorporated to further automate programming of the types of 3D surfacing strategies found on lathes with live tooling.
