Hydromat Inc. Icon Technologies division's productivity center, the ICON 6-250, combines the flexible machining center principles with a rotary transfer production philosophy. The part sizes range from a 2" cube to an 8" cube and features as many as eight tools in the cut at once with eight machining units; four horizontal and four vertical units on a fully equipped machine. These four cutting stations produce five-sided machining with four-axis interpolation. Each machining unit is equipped with it's own ten-tool changer for specific applications. A Fanuc CNC controller has been incorporated as standard equipment.

A six-position pallet changing table quickly transports the 300-mm workholding pallets to the index drives at each cutting position or to two other stations. The machine's loading station is designed for manual or robotic production configurations, and an idle station has been incorporated for reclamping or gauging processes. Engineered for maximum output in a small footprint, all of these features are enveloped by a heavy-duty self-supporting machine base and frame weldment that requires no special foundation.

The company's project engineers will work hand-in-hand with customers to develop tailored manufacturing process solutions. An engineering committee, including an array of manufacturing disciplines, monitors every phase of each project. SPC values are carefully weighed during project evaluations.
