The company's interchangeable tool top plates are said to reduce setup times. Pre-tooled top plates, each holding up to 12 tools, can be removed and interchanged within 0.0002" in under 1 minute. Tools can be added or removed from any location without disturbing any other tool. Repeat jobs can typically save 50 to 80 percent (or more) on setup time, according to the company. Absolute encoders and preset servodrive positioning eliminate the need for a homing sequence for the X and Z axes. According to the company, a 1,800-lb HarCrete polymer composite base lends stability for machining and 30 percent (or more) longer tool life. Options include live tooling, C axis, tool touch probe, coolant chiller, parts removal system, top plate and spindle tooling, air blast, chip conveyor and more. The 21i-T CNC control unit includes a 0.000010" (0.00010 mm) programmable resolution/tool offset capability and many standard features, such as Ethernet card, custom macro B programming, extended part program edit and run time and parts counter.
