Gang Tool Lathe With C-Axis

SNK's Prodigy GT-27 gang tool lathe features C-axis spindle, a polymer base and precision components for fast and accurate small parts turning. The lathe uses three axes of motion that can be commanded in absolute or incremental modes. The C-axis spindle allows for indexing and positioning as well as interpolation and polar coordinate milling.

Compared to traditional cast-iron or Meehanite casting, a polymer composite base provides vibration reduction and improved surface finish, while extending tool life by up to 40 percent. Furthermore, the polymer is resistant to oxidants and thermal distortion.

Precision and versatility is achieved through the incorporation of non-heat generating collet closers, the absence of a turret and full C-Axis indexing positioning. The lathe can index in 0.01 degree increments. As a result, live tooling can be used for side drilling and milling operations.

The lathe includes a GE Fanuc controller with brushless digital servo drives.
