The new Mini Lathe has a small footprint (5.5' × 4.5') and is a gang-tool turning center designed to fit into the tightest spaces of a machine shop. When paired with an automatic bar feeder, it transforms into a high production machine capable of turning out parts up to 1" diameter by the thousand. Add a collet chuck or fixture to the A2-5 spindle nose, and it's a second-operation machine for turning lightweight parts up to 8" diameter.

The new machine has an 8" x 8" turning capacity and a 10.5" swing over the front apron. A 7.5-hp (peak) vector drive spindle provides speeds to 6,000 rpm, and the A2-5 spindle nose (with air-actuated 5C collet) accepts bar stock up to 1". The high speed cross slide, which holds up to 10 tools, guarantees fast tool changes and short cycle times. An optional large-capacity coolant pump will improve tool life and allow higher cutting speeds, and adding a floppy disk drive makes it easy to upload programs from a PC disk, download for backup storage or DNC directly off the disk. A parts catcher is also available, and the Servo Bar 300 bar feeder may be added for unattended operation.
