Seco Tools’ Duratomic turning grades TH1000 and TH1500 for the machining of hardened steels (40 - 55Rc) are good alternatives where the application of CBN or ceramics may be problematic because of component, setup or machine tool stability. These grades allow users to reduce machining time, lower insert cost and improve chip control. Component production well suited to these grades include clutch discs, gear, hubs, rock drills, tool parts, bearings, shafts, wear parts, nozzles and rolls.

The TH1000 grade is nanolaminate PVD-coated to provide edge toughness and chipping resistance.
