The Applix wide material range (WMR) taps are manufactured from premium quality vanadium powder steel, which is said to give them a combination of toughness, edge strength and wear resistance. Other features include: high helix 48-degree three-flute spiral flute taps; a TiN coating option for thread forming taps; a special tap for stainless steel applications; spiral point taps; and UNC, UNF, metric coarse and metric fine sizes.
The taps bring you cost savings through reduced cycle times, less scrap and rework and more treads per hole. They are designed to provide greater resistance to abrasive wear so that their life is substantially extended.
