The company introduces its High-Performance Series of vertical machining centers with Siemens Sinumerik 810D CNC control. The VMCs are available in high speed and high torque versions. They are affordable CNC machining centers that are consistent with the machining capabilities of the company's entire product line. The machines are designed, manufactured and tested to comply with strict ANSI/ASME B5.54 standards. They are intended to provide cost-effective die and mold cutting, milling, drilling, rigid tapping and pocket milling operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. The high speed VMCs provide fast control processing and feed rates, a 17.3-hp/13-kW, 12,000-rpm Vector spindle drive and a 17.4-hp/13-kW 30,000-rpm spindle option. The high torque versions feature 175 foot-pounds/237-Nm torque ratings with a two-speed gearbox, a 17.3-hp/13-kW 8,000-rpm Vector spindle drive and heavy duty 40-mm ballscrews. All High-Performance Series VMCs include as standard equipment: 1181-ipm / 30-m/min rapid traverse rates-all axes; 40 Taper CAT-V or BT spindle with non-contact magnetic encoder orientation; positioning accuracy of ±0.0002"/±0.005 mm with repeatability of 0.0001 "/0.0025 mm in each axis; X-axis travels of 40.16" VMC1000II, 31.50" VMC800II and 23.62" VMC60011; Y- and Z-axis travel of 20.08" in all models; a larger, more rigid base than other machines in this class; a rigid guideway design for a long accuracy life; rigid tapping; coolant chip flush; a 20-tool carousel-type ATC (automatic toolchanger); and 1,540-lb/700-kg table load capacity. The machines also feature surround tool coolant; a manual pulse generator; three linear guideways with five guide trucks on the X and Y axes; dual linear guideways with six guide trucks on each guideway in the Z axis; and a full range of options such as twin 20-tool ATC for 40 tools total, through-spindle coolant, vise fixturing, rotary tables, pallet changers, linear scales, part probe, tool touch probe, advanced mold packages and more. The VMCs are available with either the Hardinge/Fanuc 18-M CNC control or Siemens Sinumerik 810D CNC control. The Hardinge/Fanuc control is packed with many standard features, including 40-block lookahead processing, advanced preview control (APC) for cutter path error prevention, contour control for high precision machining at high speeds, and servo HRV control that eliminates servo delay. The Siemens control with 10.4" color TFT display and PC front-end offers an open-architecture Sinumerik platform to serve virtually any machining application, large or small, basic or intricate. The PC front-end includes a USB port, parallel port, two serial ports, VGA port, PS/2 mouse connection, PS/2 keyboard connection, PCMCIA slot and a floppy drive slot.
