Hyundai-Kia’s HS 5000 has a company-reported range of 15,000-24,000 rpm and comes equipped with a 40-tool automatic toolchanger. Optionally 60- or 90-tool changers are available. The tool magazine and exchange mechanism is isolated from the machining area to prevent ingress of coolant and swarf. The single-piece T-shaped bed with a double-walled casting structure creates the rigidity required to carry the heavy-duty saddle, column and linear roller guide bearing system.
Control is through a Fanuc CNC featuring canned cycles for roughing, finishing, deep hole and peck drilling, boring, tapping and threading. Linear scale positioning is available as an option to provide higher accuracy specification, if required.
