The XTractor metal separator from Bunting Magnetics Company features a self-cleaning magnetic drum separator and provides continuous separation of ferrous and nonferrous material for recycling purposes. Any manufacturing operation that is producing scrap can use this application. Since 2003, the prices for scrap have risen dramatically. The company’s metal separator is said to allow for the proper segmentation of ferrous and nonferrous material. By separating these scrap materials into distinct groups, recycling facilities will offer higher dollar value per pound for the clean separated material, according to the company. This allows shops to earn significantly larger revenue when the separated scrap is sent for recycling.

The separator separates scrap from a variety of machines including stamping and punch presses, torch or EDM machines, lathes and milling equipment. The unique Bunting drum separators contained in the machine are especially well suited for the separation of ferrous and nonferrous materials.

The separator is custom made to suit the customers processing rate requirements. Typically, standard units feature either a 12” diameter x 12” wide drum surface that can process as much as 1,500 lbs per hour or a 18” diameter x 24” wide surface capable of 2,500 lbs per hour. Options include a custom-made workstand to allow easy processing of the scrap and a rake for funneling of the scrap into the separator.
