The PTC150 horizontal turning center is 150-mm (6”) chuck machine with a 12-position turret. It features linear guideways on all feed axes. A powered turret providing driven tools and a subspindle are available as options. The A2-5 spindle has14.7-hp motor and a top speed of 6,000 rpm and has a 2.4” through-hole for bar fed applications. The machine has a maximum swing of 17.8” over the bed and a maximum swing over the cross slide of 11.4”. The machine weighs 6,600 pounds. The machine is offered with a subspindle in place of the tailstock to permit complete machining of workpieces, including the area covered by the headstock chuck. Under program control, the subspindle slide advances, matches rotational speed and grips the workpiece to remove it from the primary chuck. Machines equipped with the “S” option subspindle are suited for “lights out” operations when used with a bar feed. The machine can be ordered with a powered turret (milling option) suitable for axial or radial, rotary-tool operations. The “M” option can be combined with the “S” option subslide for parts requiring both turning and milling operations. A Y axis is also available. Combining this feature with the “M” and “S” options will provide the optimum flexibility, according to the company.
