The 109 type Supermini series has a grooving and boring range ≥ 6 mm diameter and is used in conjunction with the two existing series types 110 and 105. While the Supermini Series Type 110 can be used for bore holes ≥ 7 mm and Type 105 for bore holes ≥ 0.2 mm, the intermediate Type 109 provides cutter inserts that offer alternatives for working with reliable processes in the upper working range of types 105 and in the lower working range of types 110.

The Supermini tool system is used for boring, grooving, chamfering, threading, face grooving, finish boring, face turning and broaching of small diameters. There are more than 1,000 different cutting insert variations. The inserts solve challenging tasks in many sectors with success, with bore diameters from 0.2 mm (0.0008"). Only one standard toolholder is required for clamping all inserts of a Type series. These holders are available with and without through-tool coolant capability as well as with various machine interfaces for both right-hand and left-hand rotation.

The cutting inserts are supplied for machining steels, cast iron, nonferrous metals and exotic materials. Coated and non-coated carbide cutting inserts are available, as are cutting inserts with CBN and PCD features.
