With an in-carousel design and compact size, the Tapmatic marking head makes it possible to mark a part while still set up in the machine, eliminating expensive secondary operations and additional equipment and labor. Designed to work in conjunction with CNC machining and turning centers, as well as any manual turning, milling or drilling machine, the marking head is easily positioned in the tool magazine or turret without interfering with machine components or the workpiece.

The marking head is simply loaded into the machine’s spindle or toolholding system and then aligned and positioned on the workpiece. The marking head is then advanced 0.500” onto the workpiece.

This travel charges and launches the internal inertia system, which triggers the movement of the marking head. The marking head can be used to mark date, part number, description, company name, and so on with multi-character letters and numbers up to 15 characters and 0.25” maximum character height. It marks in less than 1 second with precise marking location repeatability while accepting blank spacers.
