Marposs Corp.'s NanoUnimar gage head for in-process grinder control is designed to suit the trend for smaller grinding machines. Its submicron accuracy and stability are the main features in providing a gage when space is restricted and micro components are being ground.

The gage is designed for measuring external and internal diameters, positioning and length for both smooth and interrupted surfaces. It has a measurement range of -100/+300 micrometers (-0.004/+0.021") for in-process measurement applications without mechanical refitting and repeatability of 0.1 micrometer (0.000004"). Because two gage heads, each with a separate measuring finger, are applied for measuring a diameter, the NanoUnimar gage can be adapted for measuring parts ranging from less than 1-mm to approximately 6-mm (0.04" to 0.2") diameter. The gage is also for use with larger parts where numerous measurements must be packed into a confined area.

The gage head has adjustably retractable fingers with as many as 700 micrometers (0.026") of travel. Mechanical adjustments to the gage are easily accessed externally from above the gage .
