Indexable Drills With Options

Both inch and metric versions of an indexable drill lineup has been introduced by Valenite. The new drills in the ValDrill line allow applications such as blind holes, pilot hole drilling, drilling to and through crossholes, off-center drilling and interrupted cut plunging and starting holes on inclined surfaces. The two series of drills provide diameter capacities from 0.

The two series of drills provide diameter capacities from 0.500 inch to 1.187 inches with the ValDrill models and in sizes from12 mm to 30 mm from Safety's Silver Drill metric drills. The metric diameter drills are available in two variations, with working depths of 2× and 4× the diameter, while the inch-based sizes are offered with 2×, 3× and 4× the diameter depth capacities.

Depending upon diameter range, the drills use one of two insert styles. The LCMT insert style is a two-cutting-edge design with a large cross section to withstand tough drilling jobs, while the XPMT style insert, in three different sizes, provides for cutting edges to minimize costs, yet is a strong tool design to prevent breakage.

Three carbide grades to choose from include the VP1310 for long wear (cast iron), the VP 5320 for steels and stainless steels and the VP8335 with added toughness for either continuous or interrupted drilling of steels and stainless steels.
