The SR 200 BB (big bore) multitasking turning center from Hardinge offers a Sure-Grip lever type 250-mm (10") three-jaw chuck as standard equipment. The machine can be configured with many multitasking functions including, live tooling. Y-axis, C-axis and subspindle, needed to machine complex small- to medium-sized parts complete in a single setup.

The turning center is a "chuck and bar" machine that will cut the toughest materials and handle deep interrupted cuts with ease while maintaining overall part accuracy. The machine features vibration dampening accomplished through the use of heavy-duty linear roller guides mounted to a Harcrete-reinforced cast iron base. The platform allows the user to tackle work virtually vibration free while reducing expenditure on tooling by as much as 33 percent, the company says.

The machine's key attributes include the GE Fanuc i-Series control unit with milling capability and multi-axis functionality; Fanuc Manual Guide i conversational programming system; hard turning and hard milling capability; Harcrete-reinforced cast iron base for dampening, improved tool life "hard turning" capability to as much as 67 Rc; and a Eppinger top plate option.
